Evgenia was born in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). Since she was young, she was a lively and energetic child who loved movement and activity. Her parents were both ballet dancers and they often took her to the theatre. They had to tie her to her seat when she was there because otherwise she would run onto the stage and join the other dancers! She developed a passionate love for acting and for ballet from a young age and finally decided to pursue ballet professionally. She graduated from the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet, Marina Vasilieva’s class, in 2002, and joined the Mariinsky Ballet Company that same year. She danced many important roles at the Mariinsky before joining the Bolshoi Theatre in 2012. She has guested at many international theatres such as the Royal Ballet, the Paris Opera, and the American Ballet Theatre. She is well known in Russia and around the world!

Not only is her technique and physique beautiful, but she is also amazing at expressing her emotions. My favorite thing about Evgenia is her artistry and acting talent. She charms the audience in each performance with her smile, working with her face, her expressions and her dramatic side to make the audience feel like they are participating in the show. She is one of the few dancers that can portray the plot without causing any sort of confusion - her ability to act is like she is telling a story on the stage. Her passion for dance and her genuine happy personality shines through her on the stage, and her smile is contagious. She is such a sweet person, and I love to watch her interviews and hear her sunny side. She is truly a joy to watch and one of my favorite dancers.
